Deployed TwitCaps v0.9b (Internationalization)

TwitCaps v0.9b Change Log - Another Massive Update

  • Implemented Translations! - You can now see translations of all international tweets in your native tongue. Select a language in the “Translations” menu on the toolbar and all tweets in the stream will be instantly readable (to about 75% accuracy because Twitter’s language ISO-code is not always accurate)
  • Added a flag representing the user’s language based off of Twitter’s language ISO-code (again, only as accurate as Twitter)
  • Added pre-load background images for all image services. This way, when a broken link shows up, or images are slow to load, the user will know which service is dropping the ball and Twitcaps itself will not look so broken during a service failure.
  • Added support for MobyPictures, another great image service with an awesome API, perhaps the best I’ve yet seen.
  • Refactored the CapUser class. No change in functionality.
  • Optimized the time/date mechanism for multiple concurrent slurpers. The auto-refresh should now better reflect a real-time view of the image stream.
  • Added social sharing links for Twitcaps to the footer.
  • Changed the Share link on the image detail to activate only on mouse click (previously and annoyingly on mouse-over)
  • Clicking on the User’s Icon in the image detail takes you to the User’s Tweet page. (Thanks Mark!)
  • Clicking on the User’s Name in the image detail displays a search of all the images posted by that user

Well, that was another whopper. Hopefully I didn’t introduce too many bugs. It felt pretty solid during testing.

This will, in all likelihood, be the penultimate functionality release before v1.0 and the end of Beta. I will be working on the last major pieces of functionality (Capture Categories and User Preferences) and a ironing out a few layout issues over the following week or two.
